Recent concerns about the presence of civil immigration enforcement

The university is aware of community concerns regarding possible federal immigration enforcement activity in the area. At this time, university officials have not confirmed any federal immigration enforcement activity on campus. We are monitoring the situation closely alongside our campus partners.

Many individuals in our campus and broader community are deeply concerned about the safety of our immigrant and mixed status neighbors. We will continue to share verified information and available resources with our campus community as appropriate, including when university officials confirm relevant activity affecting campus or university operations.

The university has published guidance for university faculty and staff who encounter ICE or other federal agents, and we will follow our procedures should we become aware of a federal immigration enforcement presence on campus. Links to these and other resources are available at open.illinois.edu/resources.

Access, Civil Rights & Community also will be offering training over the next few weeks to provide information on responding to immigration enforcement on campus.

In the meantime, please visit the open.Illinois website for current information and resources.
